Pick for March

The dinner club is going Mexican this month! Read all about our south of the border food adventure, including contributions from some special guests from Texas. There will be no fooling them!

Also, a special update: the club welcomes a new honorary member: baby Luke, who was born last month. It will be a while until he can contribute to the club, as he prefers a breastmilk-only diet for the time being. He's keeping his parents away from dinner club outings for a while--instead they are eating frozen lasagnas and take out. Yum.

  1. This was my second vist to Rudy's Tacqueria. We navigated past a Tattoo Shop to find the lively restaurant and narrowly made it back to the car without a permanent reminder of our visit. Mexican tunes played in the background, and Inca inspired art covered the brick walls. With our Texas guests in tow, we experienced Rudy's as a large group rather than a couple, and the excellent service certainly enhanced the experience! I chose chicken quesadillas and enjoyed the crispy flour tortilla sandwiching the chicken, peppers, and cheese. Always a delectable combo of ingredients, I thought the dish solid, but found nothing to set it above the average mark. Chips were tasty, but we had to work to find a decent salsa. I think the wait staff brought out 3 or 4 varieties and I settled on the HOT, which is barely above a mild level of spicy. A good flavor, but blended into a smooth slurry of red sauce not that fun to eat. I poured myself a frozen Margarita out of a plastic pitcher and wasn't impressed, but somehow, my 2nd one tasted much better and enhanced the flavor of my food as well! The company of our special Texas guests made this dinner one to remember fondly! Probably won't return--the tattoo shop might call a little too loudly after sipping those Margaritas! Rudy's final score -- 3 of 5.
